I have had the pleasure of knowing Joe Webb for the last eight years. During that time I have seen him grow from a somewhat insecure and frightened young man into a very confident and inspirational leader. The story Joe tells is a very strong and moving one. He is very clear explaining where he came from and the very difficult challenges he faced growing up. He is not afraid to talk about his mistakes and yet is able to explain how those very mistakes made him the strong confident leader he is today. Joe knows the importance of family support and how very difficult it is to succeed without it. He gives very clear and defined ways for young people to look for, find and work with supports other than family that are offered. He explains clearly, everyone has choices to make, the importance is making the right ones. As he states, "we don't always get a second chance." Joe was fortunate to meet a wonderful coach and mentor who helped him find the right path and taught him how to stay on it. He has worked very hard to help other young people do the same thing. By telling his story he will be able to help many young people find the strength and inspiration they need to continue on the path to success.

I am involved in a program on campus that supports and mentors area young underrepresented students. Joe worked with this program during his time at University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. We wish we could have Joe tell his story to every class that comes through this program, they would remember his story and learn so very much from it.
